Michael D. Izzo

Mike has been the Building Official, Plans Examiner and Fire Official for Cochise County since January 2014. 

He was the owner of Izzo & Sons Contracting, a general contracting and management firm located in central Arizona for over 20 years engaging in projects throughout Arizona and an owner/ member of Southwest Building Code Consultants LLC.

Mike has 35 years of experience in Commercial, Industrial and Residential construction holding over a dozen active certifications and held Electrical and Plumbing licenses for both Residential and Commercial businesses through subsidiaries of Izzo & Sons and is a active Member of the Arizona Building Officials and is also a active member of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the International Code Council.

Mike is married to Marna, has six grown kids in their combined family and 13 grand kids.

In his free time, Mike enjoys scuba diving and flying his Cessna 182.

Larry Whitney

Larry was born in Albuquerque, NM and moved to Arizona when he was 2 years old, so considers himself an Arizona native.

He moved to Sierra Vista in 1985 while he was in the Army.

Larry started with the City in 1992 in Public Works in the traffic signal department and transferred  into building inspections in 2005.He was promoted to Acting Building Official in April of 2013 and is presently in that position. 

Larry is the Pastor of the Mustang Mountain Cowboy Church  in Whetstone.  They have recently broke ground on their new church and expect completion date sometime in August!

 Larry is married with 6 children and has 7 grandchildren with another one on the way! 

Larry will be retiring from the City in December.
