Bruce was born and raised in Essexville, Michigan where he graduated high school in June of 1983, and left for the U. S. Army in August that year. He served 10 years for his Uncle in the Field Artillery. Initially trained as a Field Artillery Surveyor and then as a Remotely Piloted Vehicle Operator, which included all facets of that field from, flight crew, ground crew, to first and second echelon maintenance operations. Upon the cancellation of the "Aquila" RPV system, he returned to his survey and reconnaissance roots, finishing his enlistment with a 155mm self-propelled howitzer battalion in Baumholder, Germany. Upon discharge from the army, Bruce returned to the warmest place he could find a job; so, in early 1993, he came home to Sierra Vista. After arriving, he worked in many, and varied occupational endeavors, including: day labor, straight handled dust control specialist, teco technician, framer, trim installer, architectural drafter, engineering drafter, student, veterans employment assistance aid, college drafting instructor, and building inspector. He has been in building inspections since October of 2005, and with the City of Sierra Vista since January of 2002.
